Marinero can't actually answer her Christine's first questions, as he's blind; her translator, however, pipes up to answer.

The translator explains that to their memory, the glitches appeared at the same time the ships could no longer exit the island. It feels like forever to them now, but those glitches definitely shouldn't be there.

After the translator gets all that information up to speed for Marinero, the bat chimes in again.

He explains that he and Lola have recently been worried about just the same thing, wondering if perhaps the escape of a few cursed some years ago may have started the problems they've been facing.

Whether or not it's true, Marinero concedes, it's always possible the barrier could weaken. Over a hundred years he too has weakened, after all. But he reasserts that the cursed are much too dangerous to take on without knowing the purging dance-- or perhaps, without being able to run very, very fast. You humans don't have wings to fly away, after all.
