(DC 12; +1 STR = 2 + 1 = 3) He dodges out of range of both Grease and Earth Tremor, skidding to safe territory just before Web comes down (DC 12; +1 STR = 2 + 1 = 3). Michael almost manages to distract him by being extremely traumatized by his own conjured fire, which is just confusing — (DC 12; +1 STR = 1 + 1 = 2) but this opponent still manages to whip his head around quickly enough after Misty Step to catch sight of Michael in his attack.
The battle between shortbow and Regular Sword would probably have been fairly evenly matched under better circumstances. As it is, luck just isn't on Michael's side today. He's able to stay close and get a couple of light blows in on his opponent (DC 12; +1 STR = 7 + 1 = 8), but the rooster trainer discharges his weapon right into Michael's shoulder (DC 12; +1 STR = 4 + 1 = 5).
. . . So that happened!
On the plus side, the rooster is pretty impressed with Michael's creativity and determination during what ended up being a pretty quick and brutal fight. If he'd been less fast on his claws, this would have turned out very differently.
The Coliseum staff drop some sick heals and remove the arrow from Michael's poor shoulder. Would he like to continue?
