She shouldn't apologize, he says, and she watches him attentively as he says it, absorbing the advice. It isn't so much that she feels responsible for what has happened, she admits after thinking about it for a while. It's that she isn't really sure why, but she feels like bad things happen around her and she's putting people in danger by being here. She doesn't want anything bad to happen to the people she's met, but especially not to the island.
Which unsurpringly leads to her looking a little uncomfortable at the mention of fate. Does Marinero believe in that? She doesn't know if she does. Would he still believe in it even if something bad happened as a result of them coming here?
